David Levy is the co-founder and former Board President/CEO (for 24 years) of the Children Rights Council (CRC), a global child advocacy organization based in Landover, MD. There, he was the organizer of 16 national conferences and he developed CRC chapters and affiliates around the U.S. and in seven other countries.
Now working exclusively as a custody consultant, David, who was recently named “One of the 25 Most Influential People in the Lives of Our Children” by Children’s Health Magazine, is available for consultation with one parent, both parents, and group consultations. He is also available as a speaker at educational forums and conferences.
David has:
- provided advice to thousands of parents, grandparents, and other individuals who contacted CRC over the years on custody and related issues.
- been a catalyst for more than 25 access (transfer of children and supervised visitation) centers operated by CRC and its chapters in 11 states and Washington, D.C.
- supervised more than 350 college and graduate student interns from around the U.S. and abroad, 150 of which chose CRC through the Washington Center, a program based in Washington, D.C. which places interns with organizations in the Washington area. The Washington Center named CRC and Levy its “Non-Profit Intern Provider of the Year” in 2005.
- named as “One of the 25 Most Influential People in the Lives of Our Children” by Children’s Health Magazine, Fall, 2009. Others named included Melinda Gates, Arne Duncan, Sasha and Malia Obama, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
- been presented with a “Lifelong Achievement Award” for “Your Untiring Efforts on Behalf of the Children of America” by the federal Child Support Office in September, 2000.
- appeared on more than 200 TV and radio talk shows, including Oprah, Good Morning America, the Today Show, and speaker at numerous judicial, child support, shared parenting, fatherhood, stepfamily, supervised visitation conferences and commissions on the needs of children of separated, divorced, and never-married parents.
- author of various articles in journals, newspapers, and magazines, the latest of which is “Helping One Child at a Time: Child Access Centers” in the prestigious The Journal of American Therapy, Fall, 2009.
- edited the book, “The Best Parents is Both Parents: A Guide to Shared Parenting in the 21st Century” (Hampton Roads Publishing Co., 1993).
- served as a Board Member of the Stepfamily Association of America, the Supervised Visitation Network, and other organizations.
